Another season of The View is officially in the books. The Season 26 finale on Friday, August 4 capped a year of relative stability for the daytime talk show, which struggled to find its footing after the 2020 election and the departure of longtime conservative co-host Meghan McCain. Over the course of this season, McCain's replacement, Alyssa Farah Griffin, developed an easy rapport with the other ladies, and her presence brought an air of calmness to a show that's long been defined by on- and off-screen conflicts. Not to mention, The View's return to normalcy served as a fitting tribute to the show's creator Barbara Walters, who died on December 30, 2022 at the age of 93.

For the next few weeks, the women of The View will step away from the table for some much-needed R&R, but come September, they'll be back for more Hot Topics. When does The View return? Are all the co-hosts returning for Season 27? Here's everything to know about The View's summer hiatus.

    Is The View on hiatus?

It is, indeed. On Friday, August 4, The View aired its final episode of Season 26. They'll be taking a few weeks off before returning refreshed in the fall.

    What's The View's summer break 2023 schedule?

Technically, The View will still air during its usual timeslot (weekdays at 11/10c), but ABC will be running encore episodes rather than new, live episodes. These re-runs include episodes featuring interviews with the Jersey Shore Family Reunion cast, Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings, and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Will Hurd, plus musical performances from Andy Grammer and Broadway's & Juliet.

When does The View Season 27 premiere?

The View is set to return from its summer hiatus on Tuesday, September 5, the day after Labor Day. Check out the first promo for Season 27:

On August 31, ABC released the official cast photo for Season 27 and revealed that the ladies will be returning to a brand new set. The View is also expanding its popular Behind the Table podcast, hosted by executive producer Brian Teta. Episodes will now be released daily, offering listeners unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the co-hosts, producers, and guests. The new season of Behind the Table launches Monday, September 4 with an interview with Alyssa Farah Griffin, who reflects on her first full year at the Hot Topics table and dishes on what's to come in Season 27.

Are Joy Behar and Alyssa Farah Griffin returning to The View?

There's no need to worry about any major casting shakeups ahead of The View Season 27. All six co-hosts — Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Ana Navarro — are expected to return next season.

In fact, Goldberg, Behar, and Hostin recently signed multi-year extensions with ABC that will keep them at the table through Season 28. Unless someone decides to leave, this panel will likely carry The View through the 2024 election cycle, which is typically when the talk show sees its highest ratings.

Did Jason Aldean sue Whoopi and The View?

In today's installment of "Debunking Internet Misinformation," we have a false claim about country singer Jason Aldean suing Whoopi Goldberg and The View for defamation. The inaccurate story surfaced after the panel discussed the controversy surrounding Aldean's "Try That In a Small Town" video, which was pulled from CMT after it was criticized for glorifying racial violence. According to the Associated Press, Aldean is not suing The View or any of the co-hosts, including Goldberg; the claim first originated on a satirical site that has a history of publishing stories about fake lawsuits against The View.

    Was The View canceled?

Despite fake news reports claiming as much, The View has not been canceled — and it's not in any danger of being removed from ABC's Fall 2023 schedule. The show consistently ranks No. 1 among all daytime talk shows and news programs, beating popular programs like Live with Kelly and Mark and Dr. Phil in both households and total viewers. During the week of July 24, The View averaged 2.325 million viewers and delivered its top Women 25-54 telecast in nearly four months. With the 2024 election cycle heating up, the show's audience is likely to grow even more once Season 27 gets underway.
