On Wednesday, September 17, a spokesperson for ABC Network announced that Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show was being "preempted indefinitely." The sudden move comes after Kimmel's controversial comment about Charlie Kirk's shooting earlier this week.

In the wake of Jimmy Kimmel Live! being cancelled, many netizens on X are calling for the cancellation of The View as well.

"Do you support canceling "The View" on ABC? They are as disgusting as Jimmy Kimmel. YES or NO? IF Yes, Give me a THUMBS-UP!" - posted an X user.
"Hmmm... Now that Disney has pulled Jimmy Kimmel's show off the air, is there hope "The View" could be next?" - questioned a second one.
"Watch out ...The View is next. F**k ABC. I stand with Jimmy Kimmel," - wrote a third one.

Some of them even mentioned Stephen Colbert in their tweets.

For the unversed, CBS announced Stephen Colbert's late-night show would not return for a new season two months ago. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, that has had a running of 33 years on CBS, will conclude in May 2026.

"First Colbert… now Jimmy Kimmel… Next should be The View," - commented a fourth netizen.
"Jimmy Kimmel, Steven Colbert, The View, Howard Stern. I wonder how many lies have been spread between all of them," - asked a fifthe one.
"Now that Jimmy Kimmel is officially out, the next show on the chopping block should be ABC's The View," - added a sixth one.

Jimmy Kimmel's show was pulled off after the FCC chair threatened to take action on him

On Monday night, Jimmy Kimmel brought up Charlie Kirk's death in his opening monologue, claiming that his suspected shooter, Tyler Robinson, was a MAGA supporter. Kimmel also suggested that Kirk's assassination was an attempt "to score political points" for the right.

Kimmel's comments didn't sit well with many, including Brendan Carr. The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) even addressed it in a podcast interview on Wednesday (September 17), hinting at Jimmy violating his "obligation to operate in the public interest."

Then, seemingly threatening ABC over its affiliate licenses (granted by the FCC), Carr told Benny Johnson:

"When we see stuff like this, look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct, on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead."

Carr also claimed that an apology from Jimmy Kimmel to Charlie Kirk's family was a "reasonable, minimal" step forward, before adding:

"Calls for Kimmel to be fired - I think, you could certainly see a path forward for a suspension over this. You know, the FCC is going to have remedies."

Elsewhere on the podcast, Brendan Carr also addressed the other major media-related changes being made on networks like NPR, PBC, and CBS - including Stephen Colbert's show being cancelled.

Using Jimmy Kimmel as an example of people "lashing out" at these decisions, Carr called them "talentless," adding that they were just "looking for ways to get attention".
