Ten New Shows and Movies to Watch on Netflix in August 2022

The Sandman debuts, Jamie Foxx fights vampires, Locke & Key returns, and more.

    Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg are just a few of the big names bowing new projects on Netflix this August. Also this month: a new look back at the disastrous Woodstock ‘99, more teen romance drama from Never Have I Ever, and Selling Sunset's Oppenheim Group opens a new office in Selling The OC. Here are the new releases and returning series we're most looking forward to watching on Netflix in August 2022:

    Trainwreck: Woodstock '99 (New series)

    Thirty years after the first Woodstock Festival defined a generation, organizers attempted to recreate the original’s magic. It fell flat on its face in spectacular (and dangerous) fashion. In this new three-part docuseries, iterviews with artists, staff, and attendees reveal that the Fyre Festival was far from the first music fest to suffer from poor planning.

    The Sandman (New series)

    Set across multiple timelines, this much-anticipated adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s ambitious comic tells the story of Morpheus, the Dream King (Tom Sturridge), who shapes our fears and fantasies when we are asleep. When Dream is held captive for a century, it sets off a string of events that impact both the waking and dream worlds, which he must try to fix upon his return. Friends, foes, and family include Lucifer Morningstar (Gwendoline Christie), Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Johanna Constantine (Jenna Coleman), and the Corinthian (Boyd Holbrook).

    Locke & Key, Season 3

    After defeating Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira) last year, you'd hope Locke family would finally get a break. But the final season of the coming-of-age mystery sees them forced to contend with a new dangerous threat.

    Instant Dream Home (New series)

    Orange Is the New Black's Danielle Brooks returns to Netflix as the host of a reality series that's one part home renovation show, one part heist movie. The experts aren’t planning on scoring family heirlooms; instead, they'll transform a home from “ho-hum to OMG” in 24 hours. Can they pull it off?

    Day Shift (New film)

    Bud Jablonski (Jamie Foxx) appears to be a hard-working blue-collar dad, but his regular San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is actually just a cover for his true mission: to make money from killing vampires. Bud is given one last chance to work with the International Union of Vampire Hunters after he's backed by Big John Elliott (Snoop Dogg), but can he keep it together after he's paired with an inexperienced new partner (Dave Franco)?

    Never Have I Ever, Season 3

    Last season ended with Devi and Paxton (Darren Barnet) making it official at the dance, but as Mindy Kaling’s teen comedy returns for Season 3, Ben (Jaren Lewison) learns something that could threaten this newfound harmony.

    Kleo (New series)

    Top East German spy Kleo (Jella Haase) is out for revenge after serving two years in a West German prison for an assassination she committed on behalf of a secret Stasi commando. Her spree takes her through Berlin to Chile’s Atacama Desert with a police officer on her tail.

    Mo (New series)

    Mo Amer is following in the footsteps of his Ramy co-star Ramy Youssef with a new semi-autobiographical series. Mo follows Mo Najjar (played by Amer) as he navigates the complex immigration process while trying to provide for his family of Palestinian refugees living in Houston, Texas.

    Selling the OC (New series)

    The Oppenheim Group is expanding its empire with a new office in Orange Country. This new batch of realtors was teased at the end of Selling Sunset’s fourth season with a work party, and the mix of men and women in the office should lead to plenty of fireworks as they try to make their mark on the property business.

    Me Time (New film)

    Sonny (Kevin Hart) is a stay-at-home dad who finds himself with some “me time” for the first time in years while his wife and family are away. Sonny reconnects with his best friend (played by Mark Wahlberg) and the weekend quickly spins out of control in this summer comedy. The cast also includes Regina Hall, Jimmy O. Yang, and Luis Gerardo Méndez.
