Two days after Charlie Kirk was shot during an event at the Utah Valley University (UVU), his suspected shooter has allegedly been identified as a 22-year-old student from the same state, Tyler Robinson.

In an appearance on Fox News on Friday, September 12, Donald Trump announced Robinson's arrest, sharing that it was "someone very close" to the suspect who turned him in.

Sources have told news outlets that Robinson confessed to his father about shooting Charlie Kirk, after which the latter informed authorities and secured him until officers arrived. NY Times reports that Robinson was taken into custody on the night of Thursday (September 11).

While Tyler Robinson is now behind bars, little else is known about him. His motive behind shooting the late MAGA influener also remains a mystery at this time.

However, authorities have announced that if convicted of Kirk's assassination, Robinson will face a death penalty, DailyMail reports.

Robinson's arrest comes a day and a half after the manhunt for Charlie Kirk's shooter started. The FBI had even announced a reward of $100,000 for the information leading to his capture. Whether or not Robinson's father will receive that amount remains to be seen.

Joe Rogan's reaction to Charlie Kirk's death has been going viral online

Tyler Robinson's arrest in relation to Charlie Kirk's assassination comes after the latter's fellow podcaster, Joe Rogan, made headlines for his reaction to the news of Kirk's death.

Rogan learned about Kirk being shot and passing away while he was interacting with Charlie Sheen on an episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. Initially holding his head with his hands, the stunned podcaster recalled meeting Kirk once at a gun range, calling him a "nice guy". He added:

"He’s not a violent guy, he’s talking to people on college campuses. He wasn’t even particularly rude, tried to be pretty reasonable with people. He’s a very intelligent guy, whether you agree with him or don’t, and there’s a lot of stuff that I didn’t agree with him on."

Meanwhile, Sheen called the news "f**king awful," wondering if the 31-year-old was murdered for "having a different opinion than somebody else," adding that noone deserved that. Sharing his take on the same, Joe Rogan added:

"It’s a f**ked up time. People are so divided in this country... It’s so dangerous to celebrate or in any way encourage this kind of behavior from human beings. You’re allowed to disagree with people without celebrating the fact they got shot."

Charlie Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika Frantzve Kirk, and their two children. Following Kirk's death, his casket was flown in to Arizona to his home on Thursday, September 11, with Vice President JD Vance, Usha Vance, and Erika accompanying it.
