“This comparison stupid asf” — Netizens react as iShowSpeed’s driver who once chauffeured Michael Jackson, claims crowd for the streamer is crazier

iShowSpeed is currently on his Europe tour. On July 16, 2025, the popular streamer was in Germany when a massive fan crowd followed him everywhere. Speed's driver, who once chauffeured singer Michael Jackson, told him that his crowd was bigger than the singer's crowd.

This clip was reuploaded on X by the user @FearedBuck, and has garnered nearly 100,000 likes. The clip has garnered a mixed reaction from netizens, while some appreciated the driver's comment, others criticized saying Michael Jackson was a bigger star. One user (@eritreanigga) said it's "stupid" to compare the two.

Some netizens praised the streamer, saying his impact brings out massive crowds and Presidents, and other celebrities in different countries. One user (@prestonnwalshh) compared iShowSpeed to "royalty."

"Real question…is there a bigger celebrity in the world rn??? show me which celebrity regularly brings out PRESIDENTS and these type of crowds just by appearing and being themselves," one netizen wrote.

"That's wild! Celebrity culture has evolved so much. MJ was the biggest star ever, but social media creates a different kind of fandom now," another netizen added.

"If you really think about this it's absolutely absurd that a streamer gets this kind of following. He's moving like royalty," another X user wrote.

Some netizens disagreed with the driver's statement, saying that Michael Jackson had a different kind of stardom, in an era without internet.

"Michael Jackson was a musical genius, what can this guy do ? It shows the decline in humans to adore a person who is just a youtube, not a Nobel prize winner... not a FireFighter who puts his life on the line... not a police officer.... no some youtuber," one netizen wrote.

"Speed is no where near Micheal Jackson stardom though. Micheal Jackson was famous in an era where there was no twitch, twitter or YouTube," another X user added.

"Difficult to compare. ishow a diff type of celeb. remember, no cell phones & internet back then. MJ was worldwide without All of that," another user wrote.

iShowSpeed shared his thoughts on livestreaming

In December 2024, iShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., gave an interview with Forbes, discussing why livestreaming is so popular now. He told the media outlet that streamers are able to build a strong bond with their fans because they give regular updates of their lives every single day.

"As a livestreamer, we have such a close connection with our supporters and fans. We're always talking to them, giving them updates on our lives every single day. That's what makes livestreaming the thing now," he said.

The YouTuber then compared streamers to musicians and actors, saying such artists only meet their fans occasionally. However, content creators continuously stay in touch with their supporters.

"For an artist, the only time they're talking to their fans is at a concert. An actor? Maybe at a convention, if even that. But with livestreaming, we're always there. It's just the thing now," iShowSpeed said.

iShowSpeed is currently on tour in Europe. In July 2025, he is scheduled to visit Estonia, Slovenia, Latvia, Turkey, Lithuania, Poland, Bosnia, Serbia, Slovakia, and Spain.
