Carey Mulligan & Heidi Gardner in SNL's Lesbian Period Drama

In this  Saturday Night Live spoof trailer, Carey Mulligan and Heidi Gardner star in a riff on repressed foreign films like Ammonite and Portrait of a Lady on Fire, simply entitled Lesbian Period Drama, "starring two straight actresses who dared not to wear makeup." 

The sketch further roasted the tropes of the genre by noting that it contains "twelve lines of dialogue" with a "two and a half hour runtime," "the world's saddest flirting," "Academy Award-winning glance choreography" and "Best Supporting Actress nominee The Wind." 

Kate McKinnon also shows up in a dashing tux as "the one actual lesbian actress" who appears as "Stone Cold Ex."
