Tudum 2022: The Biggest TV News from Netflix's Fan Event

New series announcements, premiere dates, and buzzy trailers made for an exciting weekend.

    Netflix's Tudum fan event shared a ton of new information and fun sneak peeks this weekend, from premiere dates for new series to trailers for returning faves. Netflix originals like You and Dead to Me got new teasers and release dates for their upcoming seasons, while highly-anticipated new series including Bridgerton spin-off Queen Charlotte and Ryan Murphy's true-crime series The Watcher debuted first looks.

    The streamer also annnounced that The Witcher would return for its third season in Summer 2023, while spin-off The Witcher: Blood Origin, which is set 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher and will star Michelle Yeoh, premieres December 25, 2022.

    Here are some of the other notable announcements from this weekend's Tudum event.

    Lupin Season 3 Debuts a Thrilling Trailer

    The French heist thriller returns for a twisty third installment that sees Assane Diop (Omar Sy) on the run after avenging his father last season. Now in hiding, Assane is living apart from his family, but when he realizes how they're suffering in his absence, he returns to Paris with the hopes of starting a new life together somewhere else. With ample skeletons still in Assane's closet, however, this won't be an easy feat. 

    A premiere date has not been announced yet. 

    Bridgerton Teases Season 3 Opening

    It's finally time for Lady Whistledown to get a love story of her own in Bridgerton's third season, but Netflix is playing coy with Season 3 content. A charming featurette sees Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton) and Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton) paint each other's portraits, later joined by Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington, the mysterious Lady Whistledown). Coughlan reveals the Season 3 premiere episode title - "Out of the Shadows" - and reads the opening narration, wondering "which newly minted debutante will shine the brightest". 

    Bridgerton Season 3, which will focus on Colin and Penelope's love story, is currently in production. 

    CIA Drama The Recruit Drops a First Look & Premiere Date

    Netflix's resident teen romance heartthrob Noah Centineo is all grown up in the first look at The Recruit, an espionage thriller that sees a young CIA lawyer get tangled up in life-threatening international drama when a former asset threatens to expose the agency. The series also stars Aarti Mann, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Vondie Curtis Hall, Laura Haddock, Kristian Braun, Colton Dunnn, and Fivel Stewart.

    The Recruit premieres December 16. 

    Horror-Thriller 1899 Gets First Trailer & Premiere Date

    From the creators of Dark comes 1899, a multi-lingual horror mystery set aboard a migrant steamship headed west. What begins as a hopeful journey to the "promised land" for passengers from all over Europe soon turns into something much more sinister. Starring Emily Beecham, Aneurin Barnard, Andreas Pietschmann, Miguel Bernardeau, Maciej Musial, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Rosalie Craig, Clara Rosager, Maria Erwolter, and a slew of other performers, the unique international series will see characters all speak their own languages.

    1899 premieres on Netflix November 17.
