Jessica McLaughlin, a 7-Eleven employee, suffered severe brain damage after an alleged attack from one of her managers on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. According to her family, the woman, who worked at a Hollywood-based convenience store, has been declared brain dead following the reported incident.
Jessica McLaughlin’s brother, Sean, has launched a GoFundMe campaign recently. The fundraiser with a $50,000 goal has received immense support from the community and has accumulated over $24K in donations. Sean McLaughlin also shared that her sister has been “kept alive on machines for the past couple of days.” He continued,
“For all of these days, her mom Jasmine, her dad Clancey, our brother Anthony, step dad Albert, faithful boyfriend Adrian, sister Linda and I — along with so many friends and family — stayed by her side, hoping, praying for some kind of miracle.”
Sean revealed that the family has decided to “let her go,” as he added,
“[T]he damage from the lack of oxygen was too much. Her brain had stopped functioning. After getting second opinions and doing everything we could, we have to make the impossible decision to let her go.”
This is such a heartbreaking situation. Jessica deserved so much better. Please consider donating or sharing to help give her the goodbye she deserves. Every little bit helps. https://t.co/aFWqVqEsok

According to Jessica McLaughlin's brother Sean (via GoFundMe)
“On Tuesday, the 24th, Jessica walked into work expecting a normal day — but instead, she was violently and senselessly attacked by one of her managers. She held her down, sat on top of her, and didn’t let her breathe. While some coworkers tried to help and stop it, they were attacked too. When she finally got free, she collapsed. She wasn’t breathing.”
Sean McLaughlin stated that her coworkers performed CPR. He further alleged that the suspect “ran to the back room to try and delete the security footage,” before she escaped. Sean also told KTLA that Jessica McLaughlin was “nearing the end of her shift” when the verbal argument happened.
A spokesperson for 7-Eleven also shared a statement regarding the termination of the suspect (via KTLA),
“Our hearts are with those impacted during this difficult time. The suspect has been terminated, and we continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement in their investigation.”
LAPD has stated that an investigation into the matter is still underway, with the suspect still at large, as of this writing.
