WATCH: Jeopardy! Pays Tribute to Alex Trebek on the Second Anniversary of His Death

An exhibition game for the quiz show's super champions included a special Trebek-themed category.
  • Last night's Jeopardy! featured an exhibition game for a trio of super champions, and the quiz show also paid tribute to late host Alex Trebek.

The Tournament of Champions special exhibition game saw players Mattea Roach, Matt Amodio, and Amy Schneider go head-to-head for "a rehearsal of sorts", according to host Ken Jennings. "No prize money is at stake, just the chance to compete on the Alex Trebek Stage on this, the second anniversary of his passing."

The show's opening round featured a category called "Remembering Alex Trebek", which saw competitors answer questions ranging from the actor who parodied him on SCTV (Eugene Levy) and another name for the half-moon keys in his hardware collection (woodruff keys) to his hometown (Sudbury) and his breakfast candy bar of choice (Kit Kat).

Mattea Roach won the night with $17,600 compared to Amodio's $3,600 and Schneider's $904, though no actual money was on the line for this Midterm Election special game.

Trebek passed away of pancreatic cancer in 2020. He hosted Jeopardy! for 37 seasons, shaping the quiz show into the iconic program it is today. Jeopardy! renamed its stage after Trebek in 2021.
