Demi Lovato is finally getting married to her longtime fiancé Jordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes. As per TMZ, the nuptials will take place during Memorial Day weekend, which begins on May 24.

Demi Lovato met her future fiancé, Jordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes, while she was working on her eight album Holy Fvck. The couple’s first meeting was a professional collaboration.

Lutes, who is an accomplished musician and songwriter himself, collaborated with Lovato on the lyrics of the track, Substance. The song was released as the second single from the album, as per ABC. Along with the release of the audio track, a music video of Substance was released on the same day, featuring Paris Hilton, according to the same report.

In their collaboration on Substance, Lovato and her future partner Lutes dealt with the issue of human connections, and their lack in the age of social media. In an interview with z100 after the track was released, Lovato shared her motivation behind Substance, and said,

“the song is about how we live in a world that really lacks human connection and that goes for the way we interact with each other on social media, it's not like a phone call anymore...You'll go years without friends that you used to have ‘cause you have social media now and you think that you're close to them because of that. The content we can take is just fluff. From reality shows to being on TikTok today.”

Demi Lovato and Jordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes’ relationship explored

In retrospect, it seems like Demi Lovato did end up finding a lasting human connection through her work on the song, Substance. A few months after Lovato and Lutes’ first collaboration, rumors about Lovato dating an unnamed musician started doing the rounds, according to a report by US Weekly

Though the rumors speculated that the unnamed musician could be Lutes, given that Lovato and the songwriter had been actively interacting on social media ever since they first collaborated, there was no confirmation from either parties at the time,  as per US Weekly.

As per People Magazine, Lovato (who uses the pronouns she/they) during her appearance in the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, back in 2021, had shared,

“I'm so fluid now, and a part of the reason why I am so fluid is because I was super closeted off…I heard someone call the LGBTQIA+ community the alphabet mafia. I'm part of the alphabet mafia and proud.”

At the time, Lovato had just ended her engagement with Max Ehrich in 2020, and she had not been associated with anybody since.

However, following the August 2022 dating rumors, Lovato and Jordan Lutes made their red carpet debut as a couple on February 4, 2023 during Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy Gala, as per People Magazine. The same publication reported that Lutes shared pictures of their joint appearance on his social media page, including a snapshot of the couple displaying affection towards each other on the red carpet.

Later that year, Lovato and Lutes took the relationship to the next level when Lovato accepted Lutes’ proposal. Speaking about her new fiancé, Lovato told People Magazine,

“It's very easy to stay centered with him because I love him so much and he treats me so amazing.”

In an interview with People Magazine in 2024, Demi Lovato shared that the couple do not intend to rush with the wedding, as planning huge events can be stressful.

However, as per the latest update by TMZ, the couple are going to get married before the month ends.
