Love Island USA season 7 is currently streaming on Peacock, with Iain Stirling back as the show's narrator. In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter on July 2, 2025, he spoke about working in both the UK and US versions. He admitted that he enjoys writing the voiceovers, watching all the episodes before they air and how much he appreciates being a part of the popular show.
Stirling has narrated Love Island UK for over 10 years and started working on the US version in season 4. Although it’s a busy time for him, he said it’s also a chance to step back from the rest of the world and spend more time with family. “I hope I do it for ages,” he said, calling it a big part of his year.
Talking about who he supports on the show,
“I think it’s quite a British thing as well to be like, ‘I want the person least likely to win to win,’” Stirling said.
He added that he often connects with Islanders who feel left out, because it reminds him of how he felt in school growing up.
Iain Stirling said he often relates to Islanders who feel left out or different from the group. He explained that this feeling goes back to his own experience in high school. Referring to how he sees himself in contestants like Huda, Amaya, and Austin,
“A therapist would definitely identify it as coming from my time at high school,” he said.
Stirling said he tends to support Islanders who might not fit the usual mold of Love Island.
“Like when Huda isn’t quite fitting in or when Austin couldn’t quite find the girl that liked him, those are the characters that speak to me.”
Iain mentioned how some Islanders bring their true personalities, but that doesn’t always match the villa environment. He gave the example of Amaya, who was told to stop calling the boys “babe,” even though that was just the way she normally talked.
Love Island USA host said he had also been in situations where his personality didn’t fit the surroundings, which made things hard. Stirling added that even if these Islanders don’t always stand out by Love Island standards, they still leave a mark.
Stirling explained how the voiceover process works. He said the team gets each episode with a rough voiceover, then adds in the jokes by watching it act by act. Once the jokes are written, they record the final version and send it to the channel. He stated that he enjoys this aspect of his job since it allows him to be creative.
Since he watches the episodes early, he said he’s glad he lives in the UK so he doesn’t accidentally spoil anything for viewers. He admitted, “I’m so bad.”
“They just stopped telling me things because then I was like, ‘If you don’t tell me anything, then I can go, I don’t know,’” he added.
Iain Stirling shared that Love Island has become an important part of his life. He said it feels special to be part of a show that so many people know and talk about. He added that he’s trying to take it all in and enjoy the moment, because not many people get to do something like this even once, let alone twice with the same show.
