Stephen Colbert Drags Arizona GOP's 'Insane' Bamboo Audit

  • Stephen Colbert isn't one for conspiracy theories, but on Monday night, he devoted a few minutes to the latest iteration of the GOP's "big lie," an audit of presidential election ballots in Maricopa County, Arizona. Currently, auditors are searching for traces of bamboo in the ballots, as they claim it proves China tampered with the election.

"That's insane," ripped Colbert. "Bamboo literally grows everywhere in the world. If you want to prove the ballots were from China, you've got to look for little bits of panda fur or traces of Ivanka handbags."

Of course, Colbert doesn't put much stock in the auditors' abilities, to begin with, as the review is being conducted by a cybersecurity firm named Cyber Ninjas. "Also the name of a knockoff Luke Skywalker toy," joked The Late Show host. "Apparently, Cyber Ninjas have zero experience in election audits. Or perhaps their years of rigorous training merely allow them to audit elections without a trace."

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 PM ET on CBS.
