Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers Roast Don Jr.'s CPAC Comedy Disaster

  • When it comes to comedy, Donald Trump, Jr. should leave it to the experts. Over the weekend, Trump's eldest son attempted to work the room at CPAC's summer conference in Dallas, but his attempts at humor failed. By Monday night, Don Jr.'s CPAC bomb made its way to Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers, who schooled him on "professional" comedic technique and, better yet, encouraged him to hang up his mic for good.

"A lot of people spoke [at CPAC], but the moment everyone's talking about was delivered by son of the former president and guy pointing out that cocaine is technically a vegetable, Don Jr.," said Colbert, before playing a clip of Don Jr. attempting to joke about how Texas Democrats "have lost their minds," a punchline that received zero response.

"Now, I do comedy professionally, so let me explain," continued Colbert. "That is what we in the business call 'not doing comedy professionally.' You know you really nailed the punchline when you look off into the distance to see if help is coming."

Over on NBC, Seth Meyers took an even harder shot at Don Jr. "Last time somebody bombed that badly he became The Joker," said the Late Night host. "Don Jr. looked like he just walked into the scene in a student improv show and blanked. 'Don, you said freeze, you gotta have something!'"

"Don Jr. has all the charm and charisma of a dude selling time shares in a hotel conference room whose PowerPoint just crashed," added Meyers.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 PM ET on CBS, and Late Night with Seth Meyers airs at 12:35 AM ET on NBC.
