Regina King's Badass Oscar Entrance

  • Say what you want about this year's Oscars (and people are), it started off making good on its promise to feel like a movie, with an opening credits sequence that conjured the opening of a film.

In a single shot, the camera followed last year's Best Supporting Actress (and director of this year's thrice-nominated One Night in Miami) Regina King as she made her was down the proverbial red carpet (it was actually blue) through LA's historic Union Station to the building's old Ticket Concourse, which was remade as a ballroom for the occasion.

Whether the show managed to sustain the mood set in its opening minute appears to be a matter of opinion, but it started strong.
