A Canadian former far-right activist and YouTuber, Lauren Southern, has alleged she was s*xually assaulted by internet personality Andrew Tate in 2018.

The claims, detailed in her newly published memoir This Is Not Real Life, add to the growing list of legal troubles facing Tate, who is already facing r*pe and human trafficking charges in the UK and Romania.

Lauren Southern, 30, came to prominence in the mid-2010s as a leading far-right commentator with anti-immigration, anti-feminist, and anti-Islam views. Amassing over 700,000 YouTube subscribers at her peak, she was one of the most high-profile figures in the “alt-right” online world (Times Now World).

She was banned from social media for taking what the platforms deemed were controversial stunts, such as handing out leaflets in Luton, the UK, which read "Allah is a gay god", something she called a "social experiment", which led to her being banned from entering the UK in 2018.

In her memoir, Lauren Southern describes a 2018 visit to Romania with British activist Tommy Robinson, where she sat down with Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan to talk about a possible right-wing media project.

She detailed an evening that started with Tate being “charming” and “flirtatious,” but ended with her being allegedly r*ped in her hotel room.

A further look into Lauren Southern's statements as Andrew Tate responds to her claims

According to Southern, after getting her “incredibly intoxicated,” despite her continued protestations, Tate supposedly picked her up and carried her to her room, and then strangled her into unconsciousness when she wouldn’t consent to sex. She wrote:

"I kissed him back briefly and then told him I wanted to sleep. I said no, very clearly, multiple times, and tried to pull his hands off me. He put his arm around my neck and began strangling me unconscious. I tried to fight back. He repeatedly strangled me every time I regained enough consciousness to pull at his arms. I’d prefer not to share the rest. It’s pretty obvious."

Lauren Southern did not initially report the incident, fearing backlash due to her public anti-feminist stance.

However, after learning of other accusations against Andrew Tate, she decided to come forward. Southern says the alleged assault partly led to her exiting far-right politics.

Andrew Telegraph, Tate has rejected the allegations, calling them a stunt to sell books.

In a since deleted X post, he called Southern an attention-seeker and said she had texted him “begging to see me again.”

"Chooses the chapter about me to release ‘for free’ to get attention so she can sell her memoirs of promiscuity. Coincidence I’m sure. I’m glad you admit you’re a drug addict in this post, that might explain why you forgot about all the txts you sent begging to see me again," he wrote.

Tate's legal team has not issued a formal statement. This Is Not Real Life was released on July 13, 2025.
