Wednesday Creators Are Keeping Uncle Fester Details Under Wraps

Tuesday saw the release of the first cast images for Wednesday, Tim Burton's highly anticipated Netflix series about Wednesday Addams' years as a student. Although fans were excited to see Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán in costume as Morticia and Gomez Addams as well as Isaac Ordonez as Wednesday's brother Pugsley, one fan-favorite character usually photographed with the Addams family was missing: Uncle Fester, who was played by Jackie Coogan in the original television series.

Interestingly, there is also no listing for Uncle Fester as a character on the show's IMDB cast list.

When asked whether Uncle Fester will be in the series and, if so, who will be playing him, co-creator Alfred Gough said, "We have no comment on Uncle Fester. Watch the show."

Fans took to Twitter to guess who could be playing the iconic character, with one fan saying, "Watch it be Chris Pratt lmao."

Other guesses include Danny Devito, frequent Tim Burton collaborator Johnny Depp, and even Christopher Lloyd, who played the character in the 1990s Addams Family films.

With them hiding a character like Fester I can only imagine someone like Danny Devito.

Other fans predicted that Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday Addams in the '90s films and was announced earlier this year as a "major part" of the new series, will star as "Aunt Fester."

There's been no announcement as to what role Ricci will play in Wednesday, and she does not have a character name listed on the show's IMDB page.

Wednesday is set to premiere on Netflix later this year.
