American journalist Megyn Kelly recently schooled a college student who linked President Donald Trump's "rhetoric" to the assassination of Charlie Kirk. This happened when Megyn was hosting at Virginia Tech at the second TPUSA campus event, since Kirk's murder. The male student addressed Kelly and asked,
"Why do you support a president who contributes to the rhetoric that got your friend Charlie Kirk killed? We saw his rally recently, he said, 'I hate my enemies.'"

The venue was then filled with chaos, with the audience reportedly attempting to interrupt the student who asked this question. Kelly too seemingly had a solid answer, in which she called the claim a "blatant lie." The journalist further continued,
"This is how we get here. That's a blatant lie, it’s a defamatory blaspheme and it’s inappropriate in this setting."
The student further tried to share their narrative claiming that it was Donald Trump who contributed to such an atmosphere which led to Charlie Kirk's assassination. The host, however, negated the allegations and instead blamed "leftist ideology" to be the motivating factor behind Kirk's death. She additionally stated,
"We know it from the bullet casings, we know it from the Utah governor, we know it from his own mother."
Megyn Kelly's response to the student gained massive applause at the venue at the time, according to reports by The New York Post.
TRUMP: "He didn't hate his opponents. He wanted the best for them - that's where I disagreed with Charlie. I HATE my opponent and I DON'T want the best for them."💀😂 pic.twitter.com/9X7N1aLWR8

Charlie Kirk's memorial service took place in Arizona, on September 21. Several significant officials including President Donald Trump was present at the event and also gave a speech. At one point during the speech, President Trump quoted Charlie Kirk, where the latter said that he "loved" his opponents.
During his speech, Trump said that this was where he disagreed with Kirk. According to the US President,
"That's where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponents and I don't want the best for them, I'm sorry."
This remark by the President caused widespread criticism. The student also cited this statement by Trump while asking a follow-up question to Megyn Kelly. The student asked if it was "okay to incite violence against liberals."
To this, Kelly responded by saying that Donald Trump never accepted violence against liberals. She continued,
"Its completely normal for a politician to be thinking about his political fights. And, by the way, Trump has every right to loathe his enemies - they tried to put him in jail for the rest of his life, they tried to bankrupt him, they tried to put his family in jail, and they tried to kill him".
This response again received a massive round of applause from the right-leaning supporters at the event.
