The Targaryens Return to HBO in New House of the Dragon Teaser

HBO has released a first look at the new Game of Thrones prequel.
  • HBO released a new teaser Thursday for the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon. Based on George R.R. Martin's "Fire & Blood," the new series takes place 200 years before the the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen.

    Like Game of Thrones before it, House of the Dragon boasts quite a large cast. The series stars Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D'Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, and Olivia Cooke as Lady Alicent Hightower, with additional performances from Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans.

    The supporting cast also includes Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, and Savannah Steyn.

    Season 1 premieres August 21 on HBO and HBO Max.
