As previously mentioned, investigators could track down the possible movements of the suspect around the time of the assasination. According to Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason, the alleged killer had blended into the college crowd easily, since he seemingly was of similar age.
According to the law enforcement officials, he arrived at the UVU campus at about 11.52 am local time. This was around half an hour before Kirk was killed by a single bullet that struck him in the neck. He allegedly reached the rooftop through the stairwells and took his position to shoot at Kirk. Officials stated that immediately after the shooting, he jumped off and fled the scene.
As of now, no motive could be officially identified by the authorities. However, according to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, this incident was a case of "political assassination." While Kirk was rushed to the hospital post the shooting, he succumbed to the injuries.
Several notable figures had expressed shock and condolences over the sudden death of Kirk. This includes President Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Elon Musk, to name a few. A lot of netizens shared a similar take on the situation on social media platforms. Many criticized the act even though they were not supportive of Charlie Kirk's political ideologies.
