Pedro Pascal, known for his roles in The Last of Us Season 2, Materialists, Eddington, and the soon-to-be-released The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has been open about his anxiety issues. While discussing Eddington—a western with a surreal and psychological twist—he talked to Men's Health about what he went through during such a lonely and challenging time.
In May 2025, Eddington dived into ideas like anxiety, isolation, and how people can fall apart under stress. Pascal shared that these themes felt personal to him. He discussed in an interview how the first few months of the pandemic had altered his approach to connecting with people.
Back in his school and college days, he often had long talks and spent a lot of time socializing, but he realized he'd moved far away from those routines. He explained how, as lockdowns became the norm and isolation set in, he started focusing on things that pulled him further away from others.
"I notice, especially during this period of the summer 2020, and the kind of isolation and how long my FaceTimes were, and my phone conversations, that I had started to make an effort to engage more, having previously lost that option in many ways," he explained. "I can think back on high school and college, and I was always such a talker with friends. Conversations on the phone, and then I don’t know how many days had gone by where we stopped doing that."

Pascal spent time catching up with people close to him through FaceTime calls and having deeper conversations. Reaching out and being honest in communication gave him a sense of stability during tough moments.
"It’s something I’ve held onto very much. I was always one to reach out when I’m facing something that is challenging or making me anxious," he said. "I definitely kind of stopped doing that, and instead I’m doomscrolling, or looking for something to watch; looking for different ways to disassociate from the feeling I’m having. And then, when it started to feel so critical, I had to go back to what was always the comfort for me in life, which was engagement in my relationships, my friendships, and conversation and shared experience."
During the Los Angeles premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 21, Pedro Pascal showed a caring gesture on the red carpet that went viral. The actor attended the event with his sister, Lux Pascal. Lux wore a black dress with a halter-style neckline, braided detailing, and waist cutouts. At one point, Lux struggled with the sheer train of her outfit. Pedro stepped in to assist.
In a clip posted by Entertainment Tonight, he walked around her and fixed the fabric so it looked just right in photos. Pedro dressed sharply to stand out at the event, choosing an ivory suit jacket combined with a white tank top, black pants, and a scarf with black-and-white polka dots. He added black-framed glasses and shiny dress shoes to finish his outfit.
Pedro Pascal has been open about his experiences with anxiety, especially during public events like red carpet appearances. In past interviews, he shared a personal coping technique he uses to manage these moments—placing his left hand on his torso to ground himself and ease feelings of nervousness.
“You know why?” he said to Deadline, "It’s because my anxiety is right here."
