After years out of the spotlight, Academy Award-winning actress and comedian Mo'Nique is returning to television in BMF. The Starz drama is inspired by the true story of two Detroit brothers who built one of the most influential crime families of the 1980s. Mo'Nique will play Goldie, a sophisticated Atlanta strip club owner who takes her business seriously and isn't afraid to do what's necessary to succeed.

Executive producer Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson confirmed Mo'Nique's casting on his personal Instagram, sharing a video of the actress in character. "The underdog is back on top," he captioned the video. In March, 50 Cent posted that he wanted to bring Mo'Nique back since she had reportedly been blackballed by Hollywood years prior. The actress claimed in a 2015 interview that following her Oscar win for the film Precious, she was told she was "difficult" to work with and lost out on roles as a result. Her last role came in 2016 as Aunt May in the holiday comedy film Almost Christmas.

Mo'Nique will join returning cast members Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., Da’Vinchi, Russell Hornsby, Michole Briana White, Myles Truitt, La La Anthony, and Steve Harris. The series also features appearances from Snoop Dogg, Wood Harris, and Leslie Jones.
