Candace Owens has been quite active when it came to discussing Charlie Kirk's assassination that happened in September. Recently, she made headlines yet again after her interview with CNN's Elle Reeve was released. In the interview, Candace claimed that she initially told the network that she did not want to discuss Kirk.
On November 9, 2025, Candace took to X and clarified that her team has particularly told the network that she did not want to talk about Kirk. In the tweet, she further accused the network of violating the terms and asking questions about the conservative political activist. Along with the tweet was a screenshot of an email seemingly sent by her team to Reeve.
The screenshot showed three questions that Candace's team asked about the time and venue of the interview. It also contained the point where her team stated that she didn't want to discuss Kirk's death. Meanwhile, CNN reportedly released receipts suggesting that Candace Owens had eventually agreed to speak about Charlie Kirk during the interview.
In the screenshot, Elle Reeve seemingly sent an email to Candace on September 22 asking if she still did not want to discuss Kirk. Reeve further stated that she would be open to discussing the same if Candace felt comfortable about it. Reeve added,
"If she does want to discuss him, I'd certainly be interested in talking about that—it's a big part of her background and is also related to some of the divides within MAGA."
To this, Candace Owens' team responded by saying,
"Thank you. So long as Charlie is discussed in a tasteful way, that's fine. I understand you have to ask. I would just keep it to one or two questions about his passing. She's still mourning, so it's a sensitive topic."
Candace Owens made some striking claims during her viral CNN interview. From suggesting that Tyler Robinson did not kill Charlie Kirk to claiming that feds made up messages that appeared "out of thin air," Candace's statements garnered massive attention online.
During the interview, Reeve asked her to elaborate on what she meant by her statement suggesting that Kirk was betrayed by someone close. To this, Candace Owens said,
"I think that in the coming weeks there's going to be a lot of financial reports that are coming out, and I first and foremost do not believe that Tyler Robinson killed Charlie Kirk. I want to be very clear on that. Whether he was involved, I think the answer is yes. I think that's obvious."
When asked why she felt that Robinson was not the only culprit, Candace cited her suspicion surrounding the "weird Fed messages." Reeve then asked her what made her speculate that the messages were "made up." To this, Owens said that the messages did not have timestamps.
Candace Owens has been a name that has come up time and again since Charlie Kirk was assassinated earlier in September. Owens had speculated several conspiracy theories too over time, one of them being the presence of underground tunnels that the killer possibly used to escape.
Many netizens too reacted to Candace's remarks since Kirk's death. While some resonated with her theories, others did not seem very convinced by them.
