Seth Rogen Calls Out the Emmys' COVID Protocol: 'This is Insane!'

  • Seth Rogen didn't host the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, but he still managed to steal the show with a speech calling out the event's questionable COVID-19 protocol. Rogen joked (joked?) that attendees were told the event would be held outdoors, not in "a hermetically sealed tent" packed to the gills with people. "There's way too many of us in this little room! What are we doing?!" he said, noting that the TV Academy "lied" to the stars in attendance. "I would not have come to this! Why is there a roof?!"

"It's more important that we have three chandeliers than that we make sure we don't kill Eugene Levy tonight," continued Rogen. "This is insane. I went from wiping my groceries to having Paul Bettany sneeze in my face."

For what it's worth, Rogen's bit did seem to prompt a response from DJ Reggie Watts and host Cedric the Entertainer, who explained that stars had to be vaccinated in order to attend. Still, Rogen's question about the roof is valid — was there really no way to get some airflow into that tightly-packed tent?
