Robert Pattinson is 'Absolutely Terrified' For Fans to See The Batman

  • Robert Pattinson is no stranger to major franchises, but there's a different level of pressure that comes with playing Batman. In a wide-ranging interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday night, Pattinson revealed that he was "absolutely terrified" to follow in Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, and Val Kilmer's footsteps as Bruce Wayne. "I haven't been this scared to release a movie in a long time," said the British actor.

Though Jimmy Kimmel assured Pattinson that he's "a really good Batman," he admitted that the flip-side could be devastating. "There's nothing worse than being a bad Batman," said the ABC host. "I mean, if you're a bad Batman, there's no bigger disaster than that, is there?"

"That's what everyone keeps telling me," replied Pattinson. "They're like, if all fails, you'll still be part of something really special. I'm like, I don't want to be the worst one. That's what I get remembered for."

The Twilight star went on to say that he only saw The Batman in full three days ago. "I kind of realized, I need to be in the perfect balance of serotonin to watch my own stuff," he explained. "I need to work out for two hours beforehand, I need to have an enormous amount of sugar and caffeine. So like, whatever I'm watching, I'm like, yes!"

Later in the interview, Pattinson revealed that, as part of his audition process, he tried on every Batsuit, from Keaton's to Bale's. He said that Val Kilmer's suit fit the best, but as Vulture notes, Pattinson is notorious for lying during interviews, so fans will need a full side-by-side comparison of Pattinson and Kilmer to really know for sure.

The Batman premieres in theaters Friday, March 4 in theaters. It will be available to stream April 19 on HBO Max.
