Dwayne Johnson's Mom Wanted J.Lo to Play Her in Young Rock

  • In this clip from Wednesday's Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson discusses his upcoming sitcom Young Rock, in which he plays himself running for president in 2032 looking back on his life, and the conversation turned to casting his mother.

"I said 'listen, you're in good hands, I'm going to cast someone who I think you're really going to be happy with,'" Johnson explains. "I said 'Mom, but just keep in mind that we have to be authentic with our casting. I want to make sure there's a woman who is of Polynesian descent, maybe Samoan descent.' She said 'Absolutely, I know exactly who you should cast.' I said 'who?' She goes 'J.Lo.' Well... hold on."

Johnson goes on to brring his mom on camera to serenade Fallon with a ukelele duet. With this level of musical talent, perhaps Jennifer Lopez is more authentic casting.

Young Rock premieres Tuesday, February 16, at 8:00 PM ET on NBC.
