Manifest Jumps to Netflix, Selena Gomez Opens Up, and The Mosquito Coast Returns

    Sci-fi dramas, intimate documentaries, thrillers... streaming offers it all during a jam-packed weekend of premieres. More than a year after it was canceled by NBC (and then saved by a fan-led campaign), Manifest makes its debut on Netflix with 10 new episodes. Over on Apple TV+, Selena Gomez speaks frankly about her mental health journey in My Mind & Me, and Justin Theorux’s The Mosquito Coast kicks off its second season.

    Also this weekend: Dangerous Liaisons puts a fresh spin on the classic novel, Showtime explores the fatal shooting that forever warped Phil Spector’s legacy, George Lopez returns to television in NBC sitcom Lopez vs. Lopez, and more. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this weekend:

    FRIDAY NOVEMBER 4

    Manifest: Complete Season 4, Part 1. Two years after Grace’s (Athena Karkanis) murder, the Stone family remains in shambles, and Ben (Josh Dallas) has stepped down from his role as co-captain of the lifeboat, leaving Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) to captain it alone. As the Death Date draws closer, a mysterious passenger arrives with a package that changes everything they know about Flight 828. The 10-episode installment marks Manifest’s first season as a Netflix original after it was canceled by NBC. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

    Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me: Original documentary. Selena Goemz opens up about her mental health journey, the toll of life in the limelight, and her lupus diagnosis in Apple’s intimate look at her life and career. According to Apple, the film “spans Gomez’s six-year journey into a new light” following a period of darkness in her life. Watch trailer. Streaming on Apple TV+

    The Mosquito Coast: Season 2 premiere. After barely escaping Mexico alive, the Foxes venture deep into the Guatemalan jungle to meet up with an old friend and her community of refugees, but they soon become entangled in a drug conflict. At odds about whether to settle down or keep moving, Allie (Justin Theroux) and Margot (Melissa George) pursue different paths to secure their family’s future. Watch trailer. Streaming on Apple TV+

    Lopez vs. Lopez: Series premiere. George Lopez and his daughter Mayan Lopez play fictionalized versions of themselves in a new sitcom about a working-class, old-school Latino father who moves in with his Gen Z daughter in hopes of rebuilding their relationship. Watch trailer. 8:00 PM ET on NBC

    Young Rock: Season 3 premiere. After losing the 2032 election, Dwayne Johnson (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) is ready to withdraw from political life for good when he gets an unexpected call. In 1985, Rocky (Joseph Lee Anderson) learns there are consequences to crossing Vince (Adam Ray); in 1997, Dwayne (Uli Latukefu) finds fans hate him even when he’s a winner.     Buying Beverly Hills: Complete Season 1. Netflix continues to expand its reality library with this series centered on the agents and clients within Mauricio Umansky’s The Agency, a brokerage with a foothold in the high stakes world of luxury real estate in Los Angeles.     Marvel Studios Legends: New episodes. Disney+ prepares for next week’s Black Panther 2 premiere with three new episodes about the heroic conquests of King T’Challa, Princess Shuri, and the Dora Milaje, Wakanda’s female warriors. Streaming on Disney+

    Weird: The Al Yankovic Story: Original film. Daniel Radcliffe plays "Weird Al" Yankovic in this exaggerated take on his life and career. A satire of the biopic genre, the film also stars Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento, and Quinta Brunson as Oprah Winfrey, among other top talent. Watch trailer.     Director by Night: Special presentation. After making his directorial debut with Marvel’s Werewolf by Night, Michael Giacchino explains his vision and approach to bringing the chilling story to life, and offers an inside look at the making of the special. Streaming on Disney+

    SATURDAY NOVEMBER 5

    Saturday Night Live: New episode. Amy Schumer hosts SNL for the third time alongside musical guest Steve Lacy. The comedian and actress previously hosted in October 2015 and May 2018. 11:30 PM ET/8:30 PM PT on NBC

    The Hair Tales: Season 1 finale. Tracee Ellis Ross' celebration of Black women’s hair concludes with two new episodes featuring guests Marsai Martin and Chlöe Bailey. Read our review. Streaming on Hulu

    Orgasm Inc: The Story of OneTaste: Original documentary. Netflix charts the rise and fall of OneTaste, which gained attention for its practice of "orgasmic meditation," in this documentary about the allegations of trafficking, prostitution, fraud, and labor violations that brought down the wellness company.     2022 World Series: The Houston Astros once again have home-field advantage in Game 6 against the Philadelphia Phillies. 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT on FOX

    SUNDAY NOVEMBER 6

    Dangerous Liaisons: Series premiere. A prelude to Pierre Choderlos de Laclos's classic 18th-century novel, this series tells the origin story of how the Marquise de Merteuil (Alice Englert) and the Vicomte de Valmont (Nicholas Denton) met as passionate young lovers in pre-revolutionary Paris. The period drama also stars Lesley Manville as the elder Marquise de Merteuil. Watch trailer. 8:00 PM ET on Starz

    Spector: Docuseries premiere. Directors Sheena M. Joyce and Don Argott (Framing John Delorean) unpack what happened on the night of February 3, 2003, when actress Lana Clarkson was shot dead in the mansion of legendary music producer Phil Spector.     The Masked Singer: New episode (special night). Two new contestants face off in a nineties music battle, but only one will be crowned the victor and advance to the semifinal round. 8:00 PM ET on FOX

    Sunday Night Football: It’s a battle of top-ranked AFC West and AFC South teams as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Tennessee Titans. 8:15 PM ET/5:15 PM PT on NBC

    FBI: New episode (special night). As the team works to rescue a 5-year-old kidnapping victim, Scola (John Boyd) suspects the boy’s mother isn’t being forthcoming about why her son was targeted. The procedural returns to its regular Tuesday timeslot on November 15. 8:30 PM ET on CBS

    Family Karma: Season 3 premiere. The Indian-American group of friends celebrate new beginnings, welcome mysterious love interests, and reveal sinister relationship rumors in the third season of Bravo’s reality show. Watch trailer. 9:00 PM ET on Bravo

    Mood: Series premiere. Nicôle Lecky adapts her acclaimed Royal Court play for the small screen in this six-part series about an aspiring recording artist who is introduced to the world of social media influencers. As the gap between Sasha's (Lecky) online presence and her dream of being a singer grows, she finds herself struggling to escape an influencer world that’s darker than she ever could have imagined.
