Yellowjackets has been renewed for Season 3, long before the premiere of Season 2.
The Showtime drama, which was nominated for seven Emmy Awards including Outstanding Drama Series and Best Actress for Melanie Lynskey, is set to debut its second installment in March 2023.
Starring Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, and Tawny Cypress, the series sees four women navigate their adult lives as they try to process the 1996 plane crash that left their high school soccer team stranded in the remote Canadian wilderness for 19 months. Yellowjackets alternates between present day and the girls' traumatic time in the wild. Sophie Nélisse, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Ella Purnell, Courtney Eaton, and Liv Hewson star as the teenagers.
"With Yellowjackets‘ runaway success in season one and the pent-up anticipation for season two, we wanted to maximize the momentum by fast tracking season three now," said Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks. "The show’s ambition is only exceeded by its execution, and I thank the incredible creative team behind it, including Ashley, Bart, Jonathan [Lisco], eOne and the Showtime team, for turning this into such a success."
It is not yet known when fans can expect to see a Season 3.
Showtime subscribers will have access to the Season 2 premiere on Friday, March 24, followed by an on-air debut March 26.
Yellowjackets Season 1 is streaming on Showtime.
