“Wanted to make sure that I wasn't expected to dance”- Owen Wilson reflects on joining Travis Scott onstage for his Rolling Loud Miami set

Actor Owen Wilson shared his thoughts on his surprise showing during Travis Scott's performance at Rolling Loud Miami. He gave some backstage information about the event and how it ties to his new movie. On The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music 1, Wilson talked about going on stage with Scott to perform "FE!N" in December. Fans were shocked, but this wasn't just a random appearance. It was part of a scene for a new comedy movie about the music festival, set to come out in 2026.

Owen Wilson said that while people might have found his team-up with Travis Scott odd, the whole thing was planned. He stayed in character the whole time he was on stage. The actor admitted he was nervous at first about going up there.

But he felt better after meeting Scott, who told Wilson he was a fan of Wes Anderson - a director Wilson often works with. In the interview, Wilson shared that his sons Ford and Finn, being with him at the event gave him extra motivation to go through with the performance. He confessed to having one big worry before he went on stage — if people expected him to dance.

Speaking with Scott’s hype man moments before, Owen Wilson clarified that dancing wasn’t part of the plan, which reassured him.

"It was nice when I met him because then we did a scene and he's from Houston and he said that he loves [director] Wes Anderson," Owen Wilson said. "My two boys were there, and I think it helped having them there because I knew I couldn’t back out of it."

"It was scary going up there, and I was talking to Travis's kind of hype man before I went on and I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't expected to dance, 'cause I'm not a dancer," Wilson added.

"You can see how a lot of musicians have a hard time just shutting it down and going to bed when the show ends," he continued.

Once onstage, Owen Wilson described the experience and remarked that he could understand how artists might find it challenging to wind down after such high-energy shows.
Wilson said,

“He gave me a shot and then it seemed like right in the next second, I turned and there’s Travis Scott walking back towards me. And then I was out there and it was an out-of-body experience and I found myself just, you know, yeah, the adrenaline.”

Following the performance and filming, Owen Wilson remained at the festival and caught other acts, including a performance by rapper Sexyy Red. While the scene with Scott was for a movie, the event itself left a lasting impression on the actor, both professionally and personally.
