Neil Patrick Harris, who's set to appear in Doctor Who's landmark 60th anniversary season, has revealed that Ncuti Gatwa will play the first gay Doctor Who.

While promoting his new Netflix show Uncoupled, Harris spoke with Variety about working with Gatwa on the new Doctor Who.

"I got to meet and interact with him a bit and he's glorious," Harris said. "He'll be the first gay Doctor, which is going to be super cool, a sexier Doctor."

Gatwa makes his Doctor Who debut in 2023, but he won't be the only queer character on the show. Yasmin Finney is also set to play a trans character named Rose.

Doctor Who is available to stream on HBO Max.
