Kevin Conroy, Batman Voice Actor, Dead at 66

Kevin Conroy, best known for voicing Batman in various TV series, films, and video games, has passed away. He was 66 years old. 

Conroy's Batman: The Animated Series co-stars Loren Lester and Diane Pershing confirmed the news on their social media accounts. "Very sad news: our beloved voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, died yesterday," wrote Pershing, who voiced Poison Ivy. "He's been ill for a while but he really put in a lot of time at the cons, to the joy of all his fans. He will be sorely missed not just by the cast of the series but by his legion of fans all over the world." 

The actor first lent his voice to the Caped Crusader for 1992's Batman: The Animated Series, and continued in the role for three years. He'd next be heard in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm in 1993, and went on to voice Batman in video games like The Adventures of Batman & Robin, Batman: Vengeance, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and many more. His many Batman credits across screens big and small include The Batman Superman Movie: World's Finest, The New Batman Adventures, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and several others.

Fans took to Twitter to mourn the loss of the beloved voice actor, calling him "the best g*ddamn Batman we'll ever have" and "the definitive voice of Batman".

Kevin Conroy passing away is devastating. His iteration of Batman is the first character I ever loved and set me on the life path I’m currently on.

When discussing the all time pantheon Batman actors, his name will forever deserve to be mentioned near the top.
