Keanu Reeves will star in Hulu's Devil in the White City, based on the book of the same name by Erik Larson.

The series will tell the true story of Daniel H. Burnham (Reeves), an architect trying to make his mark on history at the 1893 World's Fair, as well as Dr. H.H. Holmes, the first modern serial killer in America, who was also behind the famous "Murder Castle," built in the shadow of the Fair.

Martin Scorsese, Rick Yorn, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, Stacey Sher, Sam Shaw, Mark Lafferty, and Reeves will executive produce the series. Shaw is also adapting the book for the screen and serving as showrunner.

The series has been in various stages of development for over 10 years, with DiCaprio acquiring the rights to adapt the book in 2010. It was originally intended to be a film in which DiCaprio would star as Holmes. In 2015, Scorsese signed on to direct. And even before that, Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner signed on to develop the book into a film, but development fell through in 2004.
