Ben Armstrong, widely known in the cryptocurrency community as “BitBoy,” was arrested on June 27 in Cherokee County, Georgia. Jail records revealed Armstrong faced six charges linked to making harassing phone calls. He got out the next day after paying bail.
Authorities have not shared specific details about the alleged calls, and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has not released a statement about the matter. Armstrong has stayed off his personal social media accounts since the arrest. His X account called Twitter, has been quiet since June 7. Others have been handling the account. A recent post from there confirmed Armstrong was still in custody when it was posted.

Armstrong's recent arrest adds to the series of legal and personal struggles he has dealt with this past year. Authorities detained him in Florida in March 2024 due to a fugitive warrant issued in Georgia. The warrant was tied to claims about emails sent to Judge Kimberly Childs of the Cobb County Superior Court during a defamation case. Representing himself in court, Armstrong admitted the arrest was linked to those emails.
Besides his criminal charges, Armstrong faces a federal defamation lawsuit. Entrepreneur and “Shark Tank” investor Kevin O’Leary filed the suit. It claims Armstrong made false statements, including saying O’Leary was “a real-life murderer” tied to a 2019 boating crash that killed two people. O’Leary was not charged in the accident. He is demanding over $75,000 in damages. A default judgment motion was submitted, and the case is still active in a federal court in Florida.
Armstrong's career fell apart after HIT Network, the crypto media company he co-created, cut ties with him. The company pointed to various problems like claims of drug use, money-related issues, and unpredictable behavior as reasons for the split.
In September 2023, one of Armstrong’s most talked-about moments happened. Police arrested him during a YouTube livestream where he was trying to confront Carlos Diaz, a former collaborator, about a Lamborghini-related argument. Law enforcement stepped in mid-broadcast and found drugs in his car.
In early 2023, Armstrong faced a class-action lawsuit where people accused him of harassing the lawyers representing the plaintiffs. The court demanded his attendance after claims he sent threatening and inappropriate messages through calls, voicemails, and social media.
At this time, Armstrong has not made any official public comments about his recent arrest or the legal issues he is dealing with.
