A post claiming country singer George Strait adopted a victim of the recent Texas flood is making rounds online. It all began on Friday, July 18, 2025, when the Facebook page Classic Country Echoes shared an alleged picture of the singer and his wife alongside a girl, with the message:

    "SHE’S OUR DAUGHTER NOW."

According to the post, Strait and his wife, Norma, "quietly adopted" a girl who lost her parents in the deluge.

Referencing their daughter Jenifer, who passed away in an automobile accident in 1986, the message continued:

"No cameras. No press. Just a quiet act of love — rooted in a loss they’ve carried for decades."

The post went viral with ober 37,000 likes and ober 5,400 shares.

However, the photograph in the post is AI-generated, and George Strait has not adopted a flood victim. Notably, reviews under the Facebook page's profile show it has previously posted similar incorrect claims and AI-generated images.

George Strait is set to host a dinner and concert to raise money for Texas flood victims and first responders

Earlier this month, several counties in Central Texas were hit with flash floods after significant rainfall led to a rise in water levels along the Guadalupe River.

According to ABC News, the disaster left 135 people dead, of which 107 were in Kerr County.

The Facebook page Classic Country Echoes claimed George Strait and his wife made the decision to adopt the child in honor of their daughter, Jenifer.

Jenifer was only 13 when she died in an automobile accident in San Marcos. Noting that the "pain never left them," the post claimed:

"So when they heard about this orphaned girl, alone after the storm, they didn’t see a stranger. They saw a chance to give love where it was needed most. It wasn’t charity. It was healing. And in the wake of tragedy, they gave her not just a home — but a family."

It is worth noting that George Strait and his family set up the Jenifer Lyn Strait Foundation in her honor.

The fund donates its earnings each year to children's charities in the San Antonio area.

This is not the only viral claim associated with George Strait circulating online.

Earlier this month, another Facebook user, @Country Heartstrings, claimed the musician donated $3.5 million to victims and the families still looking for their loved ones.

The user cited an article by 7 Media.

However, the fake claim was debunked by the fact-checking outlet, Snopes.

Per the website, a rep for the Troubadour artist refuted the claims but added they were "still determining how best to support the community."

Notably, on July 11, George Strait announced he would be hosting a benefit dinner and concert, Strait to the Heart, for Texas flood victims in an Instagram post. He wrote:

"The goal with this event is to raise meaningful, immediate support that can be put directly into the hands of flood victims without delay, while also honoring the first responders that work tirelessly to save lives."

Notably, Strait would be joined by "fellow troubadours" William Beckman, Ray Benson, Wade Bowen, Dean Dillon, Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Kyle Park, Hudson Westbrook, and members of his Ace in the Hole Band, per the Instagram post.

According to Country Living, the Check Yes or No singer teamed up with his Vaqueros del Mar partner, Tom Cusick, for organizing the event.

The concert would be held on Sunday, July 27, at the Estancia at Thunder Valley indoor arena in Boerne, Texas.
