For many fans of the long-running daytime talk show The Wendy Williams Show, the final episode was a disappointment. Many disliked the fact that the finale was guest hosted by Sherri Shepherd and Williams did not make an appearance save for a short tribute video. As it turns out, the host herself agrees with the fans.

In a new interview with The New York Post, Williams said, "There was nothing I liked about the [the final episode of] Wendy Williams Show."

Although Williams had been on a leave of absence from her series since 2021 due to personal and health problems, it was shocking to many that she did not appear in the final episode at all. According to Williams, that decision was made for her by the production company for the show, Debmar-Mercury.

"[Debmar-Mercury] didn’t ask me to do that, so I didn't," Williams explained. "I sat in my apartment and I watched it. And [I was] like, 'Eek!'"

"Debmar-Mercury, in my opinion, should have done it with [me], not these other people on The Wendy Williams Show," continued the host. "Except for Fat Joe," she added, referencing the rapper who had served as one of many guest hosts that took over during her absence. "I love him. He's my favorite."

Despite her frustration with the unceremonious end of The Wendy Williams Show, the former talk show host is looking forward to future endevours, telling The Post, "What I want to do is podcast, and I want to have a restaurant... If you're extremely famous like I am, [hosting a podcast] will make more money than being on The Wendy Williams Show."
