The recent backlash that Tyler, The Creator has been facing over his old tweets became a subject of discussion between podcasters Rory and Mal.

In a snippet from their conversation uploaded on X by a Joe Budden fanpage on Tuesday (October 21), Rory Farrell expressed his surprise at the IFHY rapper deleting one of his older tweets, saying:

"He's encouraged people - like, even at shows, he's said, 'yo, go bring up my old tweets, I don't give a f**k'. He's encouraged that before, and acknowledged that he said insane things. That's why I was even shocked that he deleted the sh*t. Or maybe it was because he has, like, a completely different perspective now, and thinks, 'Damn, I shouldn't have f**king said that. I don't believe that'."

However, Mal's response to it seemed a little in Tyler's favor as he spoke about a broader issue on social media platforms. He said:

"A larger issue with social media that people tend to forget is that 10 years ago, 12 years ago, 15 years ago, some things you said online were not deemed what are they are today... so to go back and dig up that stuff is a little unfair, because you gotta understand where we were as people, as the world, 10-15 years ago."

For the unversed, Tyler, The Creator, has been at the center of controversy over some of his tweets from more than a decade ago, in which the Hawthorne native made several anti-Black comments.

One of the tweets that have resurfaced is from January 2012, where he described the typical hair and style of Black people while also mentioning his distrust of "random Black dudes". In another tweet, the rapper made light of the Affirmative Action, writing:

"Hahahahaha, Some Black Chick Works Here. Affirmative N***a."

A month later, the NEW MAGIC rapper tweeted about Black History month, writing:

"I HATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH. WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE TO FUCKING SEPERATE N***AS STILL. ‘OH, ITS PAYING HOMAGE TO OUR HEROS’ F**K THAT."

In August of that year - when the Ferguson riots were raging in the country after Mike Brown's police killing, Tyler, The Creator tweeted:

"AND BLACK PEOPLE ARE CURRENTLY MAD RIGHT NOW BUT IN 2 WEEKS WILL BE OVER IT CAUSE THEY REALLY DON’T CARE, COOL HASHTAG THO RIGHT?"

In light of the backlash he has been facing, Tyler deleted some of his old tweets, in one of which he talked about not liking the "Black guy from Victorious," referring to Grammy-winning actor, Leon Thomas.
