Ozzy Osbourne passed away recently, merely weeks after his last performance in his hometown.
While the hard rock icon’s family didn’t reveal any cause behind his demise, he had struggled with Parkinson's disease during the final years of his life. The late singer was also hospitalized in 2019 following a health scare and had to postpone his tour. Later, his wife Sharon, who co-hosted The Talk at the time, shared Ozzy Osbourne’s health update.
She revealed that the Blizzard of Ozz singer had a bad case of the flu at the start of 2019. Sharon told The Talk that Ozzy’s condition developed into bronchitis and later worsened to pneumonia. She added (via Far Out Magazine),
“He fell. And he fell in the middle of the night. And years ago, previously, he had a motorbike accident, where he was in a coma for days. And what he’d done was, he re-injured his back and neck and shoulders.”
Sharon referred to the ATV accident that Ozzy Osbourne had in 2003. According to Today, the incident left him in a coma for eight days. When the singer fell in 2019, it aggravated his old injuries. She added (via Far Out Magazine),
“All of the metal rods and everything that were put in his body were dislodged. So we had to cancel his year’s scheduled events. But he’s good, he’s fine, he’s great.”
The Ozzmosis singer’s publicist also confirmed the postponement of his tour while sharing (via Far Out Magazine),
“[Osbourne] fell at his Los Angeles home, aggravating years-old injuries (from his 2003 ATV accident) that required surgery last month. Osbourne will remain under doctor’s care in Los Angeles as he recovers.”
According to NME, the Grammy winner also addressed his health issues and shared his gratitude for the “love and support” he received from his “family, my band, friends and fans.” The Prince of Darkness promised to return to the stage.
In 2003, Ozzy crashed his quad bike and nearly died. Me and my Dad wrote him a get well soon card together and sent it to him. I was 6 years old.

According to The Guardian, the former Black Sabbath frontman was rushed to Wexham Park Hospital in December 2003 after a quad-bike accident at his Buckinghamshire home. Following the incident, Osbourne suffered fractures to eight ribs and a vertebra, per Today. While the singer remained in a coma for days, he had to be revived twice immediately after the mishap.
Ozzy Osbourne credited his then-bodyguard, Sam Ruston, for saving his life and told Sunday Mirror,
“If it wasn’t for Sam I probably wouldn’t be here. He had to bring me back to life twice.”
During the conversation with the newspaper, the singer vowed to never go near ATVs again and called himself lucky that he wasn’t paralyzed after the accident. Years later, the singer re-injured himself after suffering a fall. Around the same time, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which he publicly disclosed in January 2020. Sharon said on GMA,
“It's PRKN 2. There's so many different types of Parkinson's; it's not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body. And it's -- it's like you have a good day, a good day, and then a really bad day.”
Earlier this year, Sharon told The Sun that Ozzy lost his ability to walk due to Parkinson’s, as he was planning to do a farewell show in Villa Park, Birmingham. Eventually, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates for his last concert, “Back to the Beginning,” on July 5 — weeks before his death.
