Mary Mara, ER and Criminal Minds Actor, Dies of Possible Drowning at 61

An investigation into Mara's death is ongoing.

    Mary Mara, known for roles in ER and Criminal Minds, has died at the age of 61.

    According to a report published by the New York State Police on Monday, Mara's body was found in the St. Lawrence River in Cape Vincent, New York on the morning of June 26. The preliminary investigation shows no signs of foul play and suggests Mara drowned while swimming.

    Mara was transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner's Office, where her official cause of death will be determined by an autopsy. An investigation into the death is currently ongoing.

    Mara made her television debut in the 1989 TV movie The Preppie Murder. In the years since, she's appeared in a number of TV series, including ER, Law & Order, Lost, Shameless, Dexter, Criminal Minds, The West Wing, and many more.
