Malcolm-Jamal Warner, known for his roles on The Cosby Show and The Resident, has reportedly died at 54, according to PEOPLE. PEOPLE reports that a source close to him said Warner was on a family trip in Costa Rica when it happened.
Local police confirmed he drowned at Cocles Beach in Limon, which has strong and tricky currents. They said a strong current pulled him under. His body was found on Sunday afternoon. His death was caused by not being able to breathe due to drowning. Up to now, no one has let out the real cause of his death.
Malcolm-Jamal Warner got very well known from the start of his work in shows by acting as Theo Huxtable who was Bill Cosby's son on the NBC show The Cosby Show that was on a lot.
He was just a kid when he started working, and his work got a lot of appreciation and even got him in the running for an Emmy award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Show. Over the eight years The Cosby Show was on, Warner's acting grew up just like he did and this added a lot to how much the show meant to people of that time.
After his big break on The Cosby Show, Malcolm-Jamal Warner grew his TV role list in both funny shows and serious plays. He got a big part in the UPN show Malcolm & Eddie, playing Malcolm McGee for four seasons with Eddie Griffin, who also had a main role.
Warner came back to funny TV with Reed Between the Lines on BET where he was a key player from 2011 to 2015. Later, he took a repeat role as Sticky in the tough FX drama Sons of Anarchy. Most recently from 2018 to 2023, he was Dr. AJ Austin on Fox's The Resident showing a move to roles that are deeper and more grown-up.
