WATCH: The Trailer for Low Country: The Murdaugh Dynasty Explores the Prominent Family's Deadly Legacy

HBO is back at it with another true crime docuseries.
  • Another true crime docuseries is headed to HBO.

The trailer for Low Country: The Murdaugh Dynasty explores the legacy of the Murdaughs, a prominent South Carolina family that gained infamy when patriarch Alex Murdaugh was accused of murdering his wife and son

According to HBO, the family enjoyed "unparallel sway over authorities" until Paul's role in a deadly boating accident thrust the family under a level of scrutiny none of them were prepared for. The series "questions the unchecked power of privilege - and the trail of death and destruction left in one family's wake."

"Where the Murdaughs go, death seems to follow," one subject says. "This was not the first time that the Murdaughs had been implicated in some sort of crime."

The docuseries comes on the heels of popular podcast Murdaugh Murders, which investigates the various crimes of the family and seeks to expose the truth via local reporting in South Carolina. With Alex Murdaugh's murder trial set to begin January 23, this true crime saga is only getting started.

"This case has captivated the country for over a year, and it would be quite an understatement to say, 'there’s much more to the story,'" says executive producer Ross Dinerstein. "In this series, we were able to offer new perspectives, new details and much-needed context to these infamous, both alleged and proven, accidents and crimes."

Low Country: The Murdaugh Dynasty premieres on HBO Max with all three episodes November 3.
