The Academy Award-nominated actor, Alec Baldwin, went through a rough patch after the unfortunate incident that took place on the sets of his recent film Rust. However, his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, a professional yoga instructor and entrepreneur, opened up about the times when Alec was struggling with his health in one of the recent episodes of the Two Ts in a Pod With Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge podcast. While talking with Teddi and Tamara, Hilaria confessed that she tried to cover up Baldwin's struggles after the Rust tragedy by giving the impression that he had another injury.

It was after the unfortunate incident that took place on the New Mexico sets of Joel Souza's indie-western Rust, when the film's cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, died in an accidental shooting as Baldwin's prop gun went off. Hutchins died on the set on October 21, 2021, as the injury was fatal. Baldwin and Souza were injured as well. Halyna Hutchins was 42 at the time.

As Hilaria admitted to covering up Alec Baldwin's health struggles after the unfortunate incident, on Teddi and Tamra's podcast, she said:

"He was in the hospital for, I don't know, I think a week. When I brought him out of the hospital, he was walking with a walker because he couldn't walk. I put a boot on his leg to pretend that he had hurt his leg, because I didn't want people to say that he was —"

When Hilaria was done talking about Baldwin's health and his injury, Teddi and Tamra took the opportunity to suggest that she did not want people to think in any way that her husband was pretending to be in a bad shape for sympathy. However, the yoga instructor turned entrepreneur went ahead and talked about how Baldwin cares about other people and said:

"The Whole fake thing. It's just so stupid. I can't handle when people question what's real, because that's gaslighting, you know. And so we just pretended that it was something else."

    Hilaria further added:

"Alec is somebody who cares tremendously, and one of the hard things for people who care a lot is they feel everything."

After the Rust tragedy, Alec Baldwin, who frequently claimed that he did not discharge the gun, was slapped with a wrongful death lawsuit that was resolved in 2022. Later, he was charged with involuntary manslaughter. However, in 2024, the charges were finally dropped. The Departed actor, along with the rest of the cast and crew, returned to finish the indie-western in 2023. Joel Souza's Rust finally made it to the theaters on May 2, 2025.

Hilaria Baldwin revealed that Alec Baldwin thought about quitting the movie business

After the unfortunate death of Halyna Hutchins on the sets of Rust, Hilaria revealed to Teddi and Tamra that there was a time when her husband, Alec Baldwin, considered and thought about leaving Hollywood. She talked about how the whole incident affected him and how his health got worse with time. Hilaria shared how Alec's health deteriorated and said:

"With the pressure and the stress and everything that was happening, on top of how just awful this tragedy was and is, he just started turning off, stopped eating. The stress … I brought him to the hospital multiple times, and then he started really declining. He passed out on me on Fifth Avenue and 101st Street, right in front of Mount Sinai [Hospital], right in front."

    Hilaria went ahead and added:

The negativity can be so loud, and if you let that cloud the fact that there's so much positivity, then it can feel all-consuming. And so my hope with him, regardless of what he decides to do. He loves to act and be doing the only thing he really knows how to do, because he's done this his whole life and he's so good at it. He knows he loves it so much. But I think that when he's hurting, he just doesn't know what to do."
