A heated discussion broke out between DJ Vlad and lawyer Tony Buzbee during an episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored. They debated the ongoing legal cases tied to music icons Diddy and Jay-Z. The talk revolved around whether the numerous lawsuits against both artists, many handled by Buzbee, were legitimate.
Tony Buzbee has worked as the lawyer for multiple individuals bringing civil claims against Sean “Diddy” Combs. These claims include allegations of sexual assault and abuse.
DJ Vlad pushed back, calling the lawsuits “nonsense.” He pointed out that out of the more than 100 lawsuits filed, two were included in Diddy’s recent criminal case, one of them being filed by Cassie Ventura.
"The defense talked to multiple people that he's representing that were suing, but they decided not to use any of them, which makes me think that there wasn't any real credible evidence that they actually did anything wrong in the situation. Therefore, there's only two people that were actually used. The only person that filed a lawsuit that was used in this case was Cassie. And, there's over 100 lawsuits. So, what does that say? The lawsuits are all nonsense," DJ Vlad argued.
Buzbee replied by separating the goals of his clients' civil lawsuits from the criminal accusations Diddy was facing. He explained that the civil cases were brought using a New York law focused on sexual assault and abuse.
This law is different from the criminal charges involving sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting people for prostitution.
DJ Vlad turned up the heat by asking Buzbee how many lawsuits he had brought against Diddy or Jay-Z had led to court victories.
When Buzbee said none had gone to trial, Vlad pushed harder. This led Buzbee to snap back, “None of them went to trial, knucklehead.”
"These cases we've brought in New York fall under a New York law dealing with sexual assault and abuse,” Buzbee said. “That’s not related at all to transportation involving prostitution or trafficking, and it’s unrelated to RICO. You jumped to this big assumption that the U.S. Attorney spoke to some of these individuals and decided they weren’t credible. You are wrong about that.”
Piers Morgan, the show’s host, tried calming things down by saying the results of the legal cases would become clear over time.
Earlier this month, a court found Diddy not guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering during his criminal trial. Despite this, he was still convicted on two lower-level charges tied to transportation for prostitution.
He could face up to 20 years behind bars and is set to return to court on October 3 to receive his sentence.
The discussion between Vlad and Buzbee has sparked mixed opinions from viewers. People are split over what the lawsuits mean and what they could indicate for everyone connected to the case.
