The NFL community is mourning the loss of former linebacker Bryan Braman, who passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, as tributes continue to pour in for his family.

Braman, 37, who played for the Houston Texans and Eagles, died following a brave fight with a rare, aggressive type of cancer. In the days following his death, donations to his GoFundMe campaign began to pour in.

Braman’s health challenges were made public when his diagnosis of cancer was disclosed earlier in this year, in February. According to MSN, he had several surgeries and specialized CAR T-cell therapy in Seattle. He had supposedly been seeking treatment from every possible source; however, his condition deteriorated quickly when the cancer spread to his organs.

An initial GoFundMe fundraising campaign for Bryan Braman was started by family friend William Jones, seeking $25,000 to pay for housing and treatment as Braman sought therapy hundreds of miles from his hometown.

"He has no home currently as he has had to pay our of pocket for much of his treatment, and even sold his last vehicle to raise the money for the motel fir this week." The campaign bio read.

The campaign went viral after Braman’s diagnosis became known, exceeding $90,000 after his death as fans, former teammates, and people throughout the NFL community offered tributes and contributions for Braman’s family. The GoFundMe campaign shows that 73 people donated recently, causing the surge in donations.

Philadelphia Eagles honor Bryan Braman's legacy and career

Bryan Braman's NFL career began as an undrafted free agent in 2011 following a college career at Idaho, Long Beach City College, and West Texas A&M. He signed with the Houston Texans, with whom he starred on special teams in three seasons.

He would later join the Eagles and play a key role over four seasons in Philly, which included the organization’s first Super Bowl win. The Philadelphia Eagles paid tribute to his life and career with an emotional post on social media.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bryan Braman. During his four seasons in Philadelphia, Bryan was a loyal teammate. A supporter of the community and a valuable member of our Super Bowl LII-winning team," The Philadelphia Eagles wrote on X.

The Houston Texans also honored Bryan Braman and his legacy by stating:

"We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Bryan Braman. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Braman family during this difficult time." They said in a statement.

The GoFundMe campaign called Braman a “local hometown hero.” The campaign stated that the donations would help to pay the medical expenses for Braman’s treatment and offer him and his family financial support during the tough times.
