The internet has been filled with reports suggesting that shamed former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron somehow blamed Coldplay for “ruining his life” in the wake of the viral Kiss Cam mishap with Kristin Cabot during their Gillette Stadium concert.
But these allegations seem to be fake as Andy Byron has never addressed the incident in public. At Coldplay’s July 17 show in Boston, Byron (then-CEO of data startup Astronomer) was caught on the Kiss Cam with Kristin Cabot, his company’s HR chief at the time.
The two colleagues responded awkwardly when shown on the big screen, as Byron bent down and out of sight, and Cabot covered her face. “Either they are just having an affair or they’re just very shy,” frontman Chris Martin said jokingly.
The clip went viral with more than 128 million views, leading to rampant speculation about the nature of their relationship.
Soon after, Byron’s wife scrubbed his surname from her social media, and both he and Cabot were put on administrative leave before both resigned from Astronomer.

Andy Byron is said to be weighing legal action against Coldplay and event organizers, claiming he “didn’t consent to being filmed or publicly humiliated,” according to Page Six and Yahoo Entertainment.
"He didn’t consent to being filmed or publicly humiliated. He thinks Coldplay made him a meme," a source close to Byron told Yahoo News.
The speculations have since taken over X as several accounts have reposted the story. Legal experts, however, said that such a lawsuit would probably be rejected (AOL). On the other hand, Byron himself has not confirmed this report to be true.
According to attorney Camron Dowlatshahi, Byron would need to demonstrate that Chris Martin acted intentionally with “malice” when he made his joke, something virtually impossible to prove, particularly given that the two happened to meet each other in a public place.
"I also very much doubt that Mr. Byron would want further public scrutiny by bringing a borderline frivolous suit against the event organizers and/or Coldplay," Dowlatshahi added.
In the aftermath, an alleged apology letter from Andy Byron started making its way across the internet.
The note, which contained emotional confessions, and even a line from Coldplay’s Fix You (“Lights will guide you home…”), stated that Byron was utterly destroyed, and he was blaming the band for his downfall.
But the letter was completely fake. Astronomer told TMZ that Byron had never said such a thing, and X flagged the original post as posted by a parody account. Yet, the fake apology took off as Elon Musk even reacted to it with a laughing emoji.
Along with the Kiss Cam drama, unsubstantiated allegations emerged that Andy Byron had supposedly paid $40,000 for explicit content from OnlyFans star Sophie Rain.
Images purporting to be the messages shared between them were published by The Blast, but Byron has not verified their authenticity.
But Rain, on the other hand, confirmed to the publication that Byron was involved but supported his wife, saying "cheaters are the worst people on this planet" and paid tribute to Coldplay for “exposing” it.
