Laura Dern and Issa Rae are set to star in an HBO limited series about the Cabbage Patch doll riots

The respective stars of HBO hits Big Little Lies and Insecure will also serve as producers on The Dolls, which recounts the aftermath of the Christmas Eve 1983 riots that took place in two small Arkansas towns over the availability of Cabbage Patch Kids dolls. The limited series, which Rae is co-writing, explores class, race, privilege and what it takes to be a "good mother.”
