Heidi Gardner: Parents tell me I'm dead-on with my teen character on SNL's "Weekend Update"

“Parents will come up to me and say, ‘How do you know my daughter?’” Gardner says of her Bailey Gismert character. She adds that parents actually have trouble watching her teen character because it's so cringeworthy in its accuracy. But Gardner says Bailey and her other "Weekend Update" characters are a far cry from her real-life persona. “Oh my gosh, these characters are emotional. How am I doing that?” she asks. “Maybe I hold my emotions in a little too much. Maybe these characters are my way of letting it out in a weird, crazy way.”
