Former SNL writer Michael McCarthy, who performed on stage with Steve Carell and Amy Sedaris, dies at 61

McCarthy wrote for Saturday Night Live from 1983 to 1985, where he created sketches like "House of Mutton." He also had guest roles on shows like Gilmore Girls and Curb Your Enthusiasm. “This is incredibly sad news,” Sedaris told the Chicago Sun-Times. “I loved Michael. He had a very dry sense of humor. He was always such a goer, a team player, generous and kind. I really loved working with him.”
