Chandra Wilson on Grey’s Anatomy health scare: I love finding out something new about Miranda Bailey

Thursday’s episode was inspired by writer Elisabeth Finch’s real-life health scare. “The notion of Bailey having a heart attack came up,” says Finch. “We were all horrified by that. We were wondering what that would do to someone that we love and respect and believe in so much as a leader and as a doctor. A light bulb went off in my head and my gut. I felt something very strongly based on my own personal experience and health experience.” Wilson says Finch gave her a detailed pitch of her episode. “All I wanted to do was fulfill that (vision) for her,” she says. “It also provided an amazing opportunity to again find out something new about Miranda Bailey, if you can believe there’s something new to be seen after 14 seasons. But there still is, and I love that.”
