Apple TV+ remaking Israeli series When Heroes Fly from The Hurt Locker writer Mark Boal

Oscar-winning screenwriter Boal, who wrote Zero Dark Dirty and The Hurt Locker, is adapting Israeli drama When Heroes Fly as Echo 3. Set in South America, Echo 3 "follows Amber Chesborough, a brilliant young scientist, the emotional center of a small American family," per Deadline. "When she goes missing along the Colombia-Venezuela border, her brother and her husband — two men with deep military experience and complicated pasts — struggle to find her in a layered, personal drama, set against the explosive backdrop of a secret war." Echo 3 will be filmed with English and Spanish dialogue.
