A couple in Missouri has named their newborn after Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, sparking discourse online. Taking to their official Facebook account on Friday, July 25, 2025, Liberty Memorial Hospital revealed the infant is named Kelce Taylor.

The post included a photo of the little girl lying next to the footballer's red jersey. Referencing the A-list couple, the announcement read:

"We are so excited to announce the birth of the youngest Swiftie and newest member of The Kansas City Chiefs Red Kingdom!! Kelce Taylor is officially in her newborn era."

As the post went viral, internet users were quick to criticize the name. One commented:

"Unpopular opinion but this level of parasocial attachment with a celeb is weird."

Many continued to call out the parents for centering their lives around the celebrity couple.

"naming a child after a song is one thing but naming them after a celebrity couple that could break up at any given moment? weird and extremely parasocial," one commented.
"this is so weird, imagine telling ppl ur named after a CELEBRITY relationship… not even ur own parents i already feel bad for the kid," another chimed in.
"Centering your life around celebrities who will never know/care about you is weird," a user wrote.

Others jokingly commented on similarly derived monikers they would name their children after.

"me in 1944 naming my baby bogart lauren," one quipped.
"me naming my first born Bruce Clark," another joked.
"y’all shaming her but its crickets when men name their kids after their fav. football player or tv show characters," a person noted.

Travis Kelce recently shared his first Instagram post featuring Taylor Swift

The baby's parents, Haley Richardson and Robert Dillon, told Today.com that they picked her name "almost right off the bat." Dillon explained that he had been a Kansas City Chiefs fan all his life, jokingly adding:

"If I was anything else, my dad probably would have disowned me."

Praising Travis' work both on and off the field (referencing his Eighty-Seven & Running organization that helps provide resources to disadvantaged youth), he added:

"We felt like the name was appropriate because we would like her to grow up to have his spirit of helping others and making sure his community is better off when he leaves than when he got there."

Meanwhile, Richardson explained she learned more about Taylor Swift after she began dating Travis. She noted that she grew to love Swift as a human being, citing the latter's philanthropic efforts. When questioned about what if Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce broke up, Richardson replied:

"They're still two people at the top of their respective fields. So honestly, we didn't even think about it. It doesn't matter to us whether or not they break up. We just wanted to give her people to look up to."

While Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have not publicly reacted to the baby's name, the couple recently sparked engagement rumors.

On Thursday, July 24, Kelce shared a rare glimpse of his relationship with the superstar singer in an Instagram post. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot a picture of Swift seemingly wearing a ring on the athlete's phone screensaver. According to E! News, the singer was wearing one of Travis' Super Bowl rings.

It is worth noting that this marked the first time Kelce shared a social media post featuring Taylor Swift since they began dating. The IG post included a carousel of images showing how the footballer spent the NFL off-season, with the caption:

"Had some adventures this offseason, kept it."

One of the pictures included him boating with his dad, Ed Kelce, and another saw him posing with his mother, Donna, and brother, Jason. The post also saw Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce spending time together on a trip to Montana and hanging out with friends.

Taylor Swift and Kelce began secretly dating in the summer of 2023. However, it wasn't until September, when she attended one of Kelce's games with his mother, that they publicly hinted at their relationship. Over the next few months, Swift was frequently seen cheering for Travis and his team at their games.

According to E! News, the Willow hitmaker officially shared her first Instagram post with Kelce in June 2024. It featured a selfie alongside the footballer, Prince William, and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, taken backstage at the Eras tour show in London. Notably, Kelce would make a guest appearance on stage as a backup dancer during Taylor Swift's second concert in the city. The couple has since been spotted together on dates but has otherwise kept their relationship private.
