Pop singer Demi Lovato recently returned to the same Los Angeles yogurt shop, which sparked a viral controversy four years ago. On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the songstress took to her Instagram stories to share a video of herself enjoying frozen yogurt at the Bigg Chill.

For context, back in April 2021, Lovato made headlines for slamming the store for displaying calorie counts and thus perpetuating the toxic diet culture. It soon became an online meme.

The first clip featured the singer lip-syncing to her past self, saying:

"I left that yogurt store and didn’t get the yogurt that I wanted."

The video then cut to her dancing in the store to her upcoming single, Fast, while eating frozen yogurt topped with sprinkles.

In another clip, also shared to her TikTok, Demi Lovato is smiling as she enjoys her froyo. Meanwhile, a text overlay read:

"you look happier’ thanks i finally got the yogurt that i wanted!"

Demi Lovato reportedly reached out to the family that owns The Bigg Chill to apologize

Back in April 2021, Demi Lovato took to her Instagram stories to call out The Bigg Chill. She claimed to find it "extremely hard to order froyo" because of various "diet food(s)" included in their menu. She even accused the store of being "diet culture vultures," adding:

"(They were promoting) a society that not only enables but praises disordered eating."

At the time, she criticized the store for displaying calorie counts on its packaging, something she alleged was "harmful."

Notably, Demi Lovato has been vocal about her eating disorder and body image issues in the past.

In response, the owners denied perpetuating diet culture. They explained that the intention to display calorie information was to help customers with dietary restrictions like having diabetes, celiac disease, or even being vegan. They also apologized to Lovato.

Per The Bigg Chill's official website, it first opened in 1986. It currently offers over 400 flavors of yogurt, created using live cultures and natural ingredients. The store's menu is known for offering "no-sugar-added, Carbolite, fat-free, and dairy-free varieties" of the dessert.

Demi Lovato initially responded by calling the store "triggering and awful," asking them to "do better." However, she eventually issued an apology, telling her fans that her message had been "misconstrued." The singer continued:

"Every time I've made a statement over Instagram or Twitter, I felt like it's gotten lost in translation a little bit."

However, it seems both Lovato and the business have moved past the controversy.

Citing "sources familiar with the situation," TMZ reported that Demi Lovato recently connected with the family that owns the Bigg Chill. Per the insider, she wanted to make things right and rushed to the store right when it opened on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the store owners were thrilled to have her back.

As news of Lovato's visit to the froyo shop spread, fans were quick to show up. The singer spent time interacting with them and even played her upcoming single, Fast, from her car. She even shared a story showing them grooving to the song. Per the outlet, she bought everyone frozen yogurt, leaving a generous tip.

Lovato's visit comes just days before she is set to debut the EDM-inspired track (Friday, August 1).
